In April, 1979  Togliatti nitrogen plant produced first tones of ammonia, and that year can be considered the date of birth of  TogliattiAzot Corporation.

The past years and the company’s path to success were far from being easy. Those, who were pioneers of the company with its huge ammonia, carbamide and methanol plants, who built the modern workshops and set up state-of-the-art processes, had faced many challenges. The team has actually brought to life these unique facilities, the very first in the whole country. Thus, ToAZ workers became path-breakers and pioneers in chemical industry.

TogliattiAzot team has fully experienced the cruelty of fighting for survival in the current world, and fearlessly run risks and experiments. These people established satellite-plants, launched production of consumer goods, very popular among private customers, keeping on concurrently improving mineral fertilizers production processes. During the difficult years in the economy of the whole country, ToAZ has not lost its positions in the global market, remaining an apparent leader as a producer of 15 percent of total global output of mineral fertilizes.
